Join Dr. Carla Gull, local coauthor of the book, Loose Parts Learning in K-3 Classrooms, for open-ended loose parts experiences at our local library. Sticks often become a wand, riding horse, or part of a fort. Cardboard boxes transform into boats, contraptions, and art projects. Children are natural collectors of bits and pieces in the world around them, using them to create playthings. These loose parts allow participants to build creativity and open their minds to the possibilities of ordinary objects and playful opportunities

Indiana author, dramatic writer, filmmaker, and professor Chris White will read from her critically-acclaimed debut novel The Life List of Adrian Mandrick, talk about her multifaceted career trajectory, then open up for a conversation with the audience. Called “poignant” and “stunningly honest,” The New York Times Book Review says White’s novel “reminds us that endangered species aren’t the only ones that need to change and adapt in order to survive.”
